1. Read the following passage and make a flow chart mentioning the bad effects of overspending. (No. 1 has been done for you.)
Spending may make us happy or unhappy depending on how and why we spend. When we spend money on things that we need and within our limit, it is good. When it becomes a compulsive behaviour, it makes life stressful. Unnecessary sending or spending beyond one’s means has some bad effects. For one thing, it may lead to financial ruin or debt and for another, it may create unhappiness within families. People who overspend are never satisfied with what they have. They always rush for brands, fashion items, designer clothes etc. Over a period oftime, it becomes an addiction which may eventually create psychological problems.

Write a summary of the following text.
The act of thinking deeply and calmly about something in a state of hightened awareness is known as meditation. It is an approach to train up the mind similar to the way that fitness is an approach to training the body. Voltaire explains, ‘Meditation is the dissolution of thoughts in eternal awareness or pure consciousness without objectification, knowing without thinking, merging finitude in infinity.’
From ancient times, meditation has been a part of some religious traditions as a way of achieving the body’s release from worldly cares and creating inner harmoy. Meditation in our time is practices by people to reduce stress and tension and improve focus. There are trainers who help beginners with some exercises such as improved breathing and progressive relaxation. One of the most common approaches to meditation is concentration.
Ans: Meditation involves thinking deeply and calmly about something in a state of hightened awareness. It is an approach to train up the mind similar to the way of making the body fit. Moreover, meditation is the dissolution of thoughts in eternal awareness. It includes pure consciousness without objectification and knowing without thinking as well. It is not only a process that has relation with some religions but also a way of making modern life free from stress and anxiety.
