3. Read the following text and fill in each gap with a suitable word based on the information of the text. 5
The ‘Shat Gambuj Mosque’ which is a World Heritage Site is situated in Bagerhat town. It was founded by a Turkish General (a)------ Ulugh Khan Jahan who was a saint warrior. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the U.S.A. He is famous for his Gettysburg Address. It was delivered by him during the American civil war on November 19, 1863. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Kentucky, the U.S.A. His parents were from Virginia. In 1819 his mother died. Then his father moved to Indiana state. He grew up there. He was a captain in the Black Hawkwar. He got the nomination for president in 1860. Then he became the president of America in 1861. Lincoln first declared a ban on slavery in America on January 1, 1863. He was re-elected president in 1864. On good Friday, April 14, 1865. He was assassinated at Ford’s theatre in Washington.

2. (a) Khan Jahan Ali was a Turkish general, a saint warrior in the 15th century. A great humanitarian, Khan Jahan Ali, established a Muslim colony at the outskirts of Bagerhat town- not very far from the dense mangrove forest of Sundarbans. He built numerous mosques, a network of roads, bridges, public buildings and reservoirs to make the city habitable. So, he is still remembered now.
(b) Khan Jahan Ali was truly a great-hearted Muslim colonizer. There is no doubt about this. We can see his greatness by observing the architecture inside the city of Khalifatabad.
(c) The mosque was used for the purpose of both as a prayer hall and as the court of Khan Jahan.
(d) The planning of the city was distinctly dominated by Islamic architecture and decorations were the combination of Mughal and Turkish architecture.
(e) The west wall in the interior has eleven mihrabs (niche in the mosque pointing towards Makkah). The mihrabs are beautifully decorated with stonework and terracotta. But the floor of the mosque is made of brick.
